The Next 4 Years

  • Continued Natural Gas, Internet, Cellular Expansion
    • Continue to lobby the provincial and federal governments for funding to; expand natural gas supply & connections, build internet and cellular infrastructure (towers and fiber to the home)
    • Attracting internet providers that can provide competitive services with cheaper infrastructure
    • Treating connectivity to natural gas, internet and cellular services like roads and bridges, by working with companies to come up with solutions to make business cases work
  • Continued Progress on Road Works Plan
    • Planning ahead when doing road works putting an end to changing culverts the year after new pavement is installed
    • Working on a proactive basis as opposed to reactive
  • Completing Upgrades to Water and Wastewater Infrastructure
    • Working to secure more funding opportunities to increase capacity and quality in Glen Walter
    • Expanding the service area to ensure new development is connected to the system while not forcing connections to existing homes and businesses
    • Redesign the water bill template to provide more information while making it simpler to understand.
  • Continue to make Investment with Community Groups in Local Parks
    • Working with local groups ensuring residents have a vested interest in their parks and ensuring their needs are met closer to home
    • Continue to make upgrades that are safer and more accessible for all kids
  • Encouraging Development of Traditional and Diverse House Types
    • With the housing crisis in Canada and South Glengarry’s abundance of development lands we need to encourage developers to break ground on housing projects
    • Housing affordability and affordable rents crisis puts an emphasis on the need for more diverse housing example the need for more town houses and multi unit homes.
  • Finding more Efficiencies Within our Service Delivery
    • Becoming more competitive in the way services are handled and streamlining the process for permits and licences
  • Working Through our Recreation Master Plan to Improve our Infrastructure
    • Continuing with current renovations and focussing on future renovations needed at the Char Lan Arena
    • Continued upgrades to community facilities and parks across the municipality
    • Building of a public boat launch to make accessing the St Lawrence River easier and more affordable for everyone
